Personally, social media has had a huge impact on my life, both positively and negatively. I think this is the case for a lot of people. Social media has a lot of benefits such as marketing for company, allows for people to stay in touch, easy start up for people with small companies, fan communities, groups for causes, and much more. Social media can have a lot of negative aspects that come with it as well such as people stealing information, fake social media profiles, online bullying, things along that line.
For me, social media allows me to stay in touch with friends, share pictures, interesting articles, stay in touch with family members, and connect with companies and other things like tv channels I like. However, sometimes I feel like social media can get to a point of competition when it comes to pictures and status updates. I sometimes feel like people are trying to post the best filtered picture in the most interesting places or the smartest sounding articles. Its almost as if some people want to make their social medias lives look more beautiful, intelligent, and glamorous than their real lives.
I also seem to have become addicted to social media. I am constantly checking my twitter, Facebook, Instagram, even my snapchat. I always want to see what people are posting, I guess an inherent desire to know what people are doing and is it better or more interesting than what I am doing?
When you really get to thinking about it though...who cares?

Postmates
After working on quant homework for a majority of the night after the lecture, my roommate sent me a text asking me if I wanted her to order me Mexican food for dinner. Unfortunately, I told her I had already eaten in the pryz (my first time since last semester). Then, I got to thinking about my blog post and what I wanted to write about. My roommates dinner proposal connected my thoughts to business ventures and our program and also what we were talking about in our leadership class. We were asked to talk about what our current favorite business establishment was. I believe I said Target. And now, thinking of the nights that I am up late doing homework and not wanting to cook, I am loving this new app that my roommate and I often take advantage of and thinking it actually may be my current favorite business establishment. The app is called Postmates.
The company is headquartered in San Francisco and was founded in 2011. According to their website: Postmates is transforming the way local goods move around a city by enabling anyone to get any product delivered in under one hour. Postmates' revolutionary urban logistics & on-demand delivery platform connects customers with local couriers, who purchase and deliver goods from any restaurant or store in a city. Their mission is to is to become the on-demand delivery infrastructure for every major city in the world.
There are already countless places available for delivery through Postmates in DC which is amazing since the only places readily available for delivery in Brookland are Dominos, Chinese, Thai, or random wings places. Postmates can bring you Shake Shack, Vapiano's, Luke's Lobster, even Matchbox and Baked and Wired. The best part is the options have even continued to grow since the company has started in DC.
All in all, I think the idea of this business is genius. I have seen it done in other cities through other companies but never with such a wide variety of options and such a 'trendy' branding image. Their app which ahs a similar look and feel to Uber's is also easier to use that comparable companies. I hope the business continues to grow in this city as I will continue to be an avid customer and reccomend to my friends.

MSBA Class of 2015
Since my
current internship situation has fallen through, I decided to take the other
route and talk about what I like about the MSBA program. Although it has only
been a few weeks, I have found many different aspects of the program that I
like so far.
To begin, I
love the entire current class. Being a relatively small group, it is easy to
get to know everyone and I think that we have all found that everyone has
different strengths in different areas and by working together we are all able
to help each other improve in areas where we were not as strong before. The emphasis
on teamwork is a really positive attribute and I think we will all benefit from
this.
Also, I
really enjoy each of the classes we will be taking throughout the year. I have
found that each one will contribute to the big picture in an important way.
Each class will be providing necessary skills and knowledge in order to succeed
in business after graduation.
I think
that this year will be a very positive and eye opening experience. Although
busy, all of the class meetings, class work, and various lectures and seminars
will all prove to be helpful, practical, and useful to apply to our overall
experience in the program.
